Intentional Winning In Life

When you don't know you can't

To achieve great and valuable things, you don't even have to know that you can. You just have to avoid knowing that you cannot. (read that again!)

If you're sure you can't, you won't. When you focus on all the reasons why it won't work, it won't work. Instead, just get busy. Work your way through each challenge, one by one.

Don't place judgments on your abilities before you even make the effort. Put your considerable skills to use and achieve what you choose to achieve.

The only things impossible for you are the things you consider to be impossible. Focus your time, energy, and awareness on what you can do, and let go of thoughts about what you cannot do.

Feel the powerful pull of your dreams, your longings, and your desires. Work to make them happen, for when you don't know you can't, you will.

This was written by Ralph Marston of The Daily Motivator and it resonates with me and Intentional Winning in Life.

Intentional Winning In Life – IWIL is the process of bringing your dreams to life right now by thinking about them differently.

So many of us had dreams when we were younger that for this reason or that, we let go of pursuing. Even as adults, things come up that seem exciting or worthwhile, but we believe we aren’t qualified, don’t have time to learn, don’t have the money, or simply don’t feel we can reach the goal. Whatever you think, you’re right! So if you don’t think you can do it, maybe you could think about it in a way that does seem doable to you. Just maybe, there is another way to bring that dream into reality.

Here’s an example (reference the photo above): Let’s say your dream is to go from San Francisco, CA to New York, NY. Most would agree that the fastest, the most direct route would be to travel eastbound on Highway 80 in one strait shot – the pink road. You’ll see a little piece of green on the pink route which is a planned detour where there’s a break in highway 80. As we do this, plug in life goals and normal activities that come along the way such as going away to college, getting married, having kids, changing jobs, etc. If you think about each of the events in your life that stop your progress to your dream destination, it’s easy to see how we get stalled and eventually “settle down” in Anytown, USA along the way.

If you look closely at a United States map, you will see that there are hundreds of other roads to get you to New York from San Francisco – the orange roads. Will it take longer? Yes. Will it cost more? Possibly. Will the journey be full of surprises? Absolutely! When you realize that all those other roads can get you where you want to go, you can see that not only can you make your dream come true, but you may also find other things that make you happy and bring you joy along the way.

New Year Health Update

We are 6 weeks into the new year and I have to say, things are going amazing! Of the many things on track, I'm most pleased with my health. I got into therapy - nutritional therapy and I booked an appointment with Jody Skoczylas-Summers. We worked with my regular doctor to check my overall blood work along with the things I wanted to see improve, and guess what? Things are improving. Most noteworthy is that my symptoms of menopause have finally settled down and I am only taking the hormone supplements 4 days a week. My weight is slowly coming down, I'm not taking OTC sleep aids at all, and I've reduced my alcohol intake significantly.

Jody put several things in perspective and reminded me of quite a few things I "used to" know and practice regularly. I'm thinking some photos may be coming soon, and not the normal before-and-after that show a dramatically different body. I'm seeing brighter skin, healthier hair, and eyes that twinkle a little more than they used to.

This is absolutely a shout out to Jody and her enthusiasm to help people feel good through her welcoming demeanor, her kind words, and her excitement to see people feel better just by getting their bodies back in balance with real food and some simple vitamins and minerals. And we have this amazing woman as an affordable(very affordable!) resource right here in Auburn!

Stay tuned, there's more good news coming, but in the meantime, if you want more info, reach out to me, I'm happy to refer you!

Its Blood Orange Season!

Its blood orange season and I feel like I won the lottery! Our good friend Tim has a tree that seems to have an endless supply this year. Okay, it may not be an endless supply, but it is LOADED! I'm going to make preserves and I just had to try my pepper recipe with the blood oranges. Can I just say, it's as good as it it with mandarins! This time though, I upped the heat by using almost all habaneros. It's so incredibly hard to get the heat to come through with a recipe that calls for so much sugar, the sugar cuts the heat like crazy. Do you have any tips on how to make a jam or jelly spicy?

In other news, we closed escrow for my clients who are moving to Auburn to be closer to mountain biking, a little larger piece of land, and the most important reason, their new grandbaby! It really is my favorite part of my job, Welcome Home Bert and Suzanne! Enjoy fresh baked cookies, blood orange marmalade, and dinner Max's Auburn. I really love my people. I brought the listing agent flowers & cookies, too but we’ve not been able to connect yet. Kim for the record, I baked the cookies, they are not store-bought.

Just Say, "Thank You"

You gotta love this life! It ebbs and flows. I can recall a very dear friend years ago saying, "You are so lucky! You have it all. A happy marriage to a great guy, a healthy son, you live in an amazing house, some money in the bank...I wish I could live your life." As she was talking I was thinking, yep, you're right, and I'm so grateful. I replied, "You know, you're right, I'm living an amazing life but don't think for one moment it can't all be gone. Money, houses, good health, and happy marriages can disappear. The idea is to say thank you, say thank you when you wake up, say thank you as you close your eyes to sleep, say thank you when he takes out the garbage, say thank you when you hear your children laughing or crying, say thank you when you can pay your bills, and say thank you when you have a job to make more money to pay them when you are short...just always say thank you." Today I'm saying thank you.
